Robotics Club: Program and Registration details
At Jing Mei Elementary, we offer PTSA Robotics club in partnership with local high school teams: High Definition FTC #18225 & Titan Robotics Club from International School. Our club fees are very low thanks to the support of high school volunteer coaches & parent volunteers. We adopt the FIRST program principles: “We don’t use kids to build robots. We use robots to build kids”
We look forward to seeing returning students and welcoming new faces to our community of young engineers & future leaders.
Program Levels
Intermediate (Grades 2–4): For students with limited robotics experience; build core skills in engineering, programming, and project management.
Please Note: This introductory curriculum is the same every session. If you do not get a spot for Session 1, please come back for Session 2!
Advanced (Grades 3–5): Prepares students for future FIRST challenge competitions. Students will work in teams and deepen skills in design, engineering, communication, and collaboration, and apply their own ideas for solving various robot game challenges.
Please Note: This class offers a different curriculum each session. We will add an initial evaluation to group students into teams with similar skill levels.
Important Club Policies:
To ensure a high-quality learning environment for all students, the following policies will be implemented during registration:
1. Agreement to Behavior & Participation Policy
Robotics Club is a 100% volunteer-run program and requires active participation and respectful behavior.
Students must stay engaged in club activities and use laptops only for robotics-related work (no games or unrelated browsing).
Disruptive behavior or repeated lack of engagement will result in warnings.
Any student who receives two warnings will be immediately removed from the club without refund. Parents are welcome to join their students during club sessions to support their learning.
2. Team Placement
During registration, you will be asked to:
List your preferred teammates (we recommend all team members list each other).
Indicate if you are willing to accept Club Placement if your preferred team cannot be formed or if you do not have a pre-arranged group.
Session 1 Schedule
Dates: 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18, 1/8, 1/15, 1/22, 2/5 [Note: no class on 11/20 (early release) and 1/29 (no school)]
Time: 3:40 PM - 5:10 PM (Fridays)
Location: Cafeteria
Total weeks: 12
Club Fee: Volunteer Parent: $100, Non-Volunteer: $300
Registration Timeline
- Join PTSA Membership by 9/20 9:00 PM to receive Early Bird registration.

- After joining PTSA membership, please make sure you are in the BMDL PTSA member’s group in Parent Square . (Please contact secretary@bmdl-ptsa.org if you have trouble joining the group).
- PTSA Membership Early Bird Registration opens: 9/22 8:00 PM (Link will be sent via the BMDL PTSA member’s group in Parent Square).
- General Registration opens to all students in Jing Mei Elementary School: 9/24 8:00 PM (Link will be sent out to school by Naomi via Parent Square).
- Payment and enrollment information sent to club members: Before 9/29 End of day.
- Payment due: 10/1 9PM.
